Will my LS Supreme Cure?

I coated my wraps 5 days ago and it looks like it's dry on the outside, not tacky but when I push my fingernail on the wraps I can make a slight indentation. The surface is hard. This is only noticeable on two sections of a 4 piece rod. The other sections which I coated several days before are hard. Do I need to wait longer or is this a problem and I have to cut off guides and redo? Biting off my nails hoping for good news. Don Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Probably in the mix. Should be dry by now. Try another coat exactly 50-50 mix. Thin coat. Try some scrap first. Usually mix 3 CC. I do not use it. I see to many posts about problams with the stuff??? Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

I'd say it's probally OK. The Supreme is more flexible than most finishes anyway, I've noticed the "fingernail" indentation on some wraps too. Give it a week and you won't be able to notice it. Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

If it is not tacky then it is probably dry. Clyde is right. To really harden it will take about a week depending on temperatures Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Make sure the rod is in a fairly warm place. At least room temperature. Although finishes set in a few hours, it can take several days for the cure process to fully complete. I suspect your finish will be okay. ......... Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Thanks Tom, I was really hoping I would hear from you. You are Mr. epoxy. I am going to start a new rod in a couple of weeks and bought some U-40 perma gloss. So this will be another new experience for me. Can't wait to see what trouble I get into with this. Don Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

I wouldn't say I'm "Mr Epoxy," but I have made my share of mistakes with it and pretty much know "what not to do." ....... Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

The Permagloss is very different than the LS Supreme, as it is a urethane and much thinner. It will require 10 coats to equal the thickness of 2 LS coats. Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Jeff, Will it look similiar after all the coats? I have a drying stand so the number of coats isn't a problem, I just want the same glossy look. Don Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Yes, it will be similar once the same depth is reached. ......... Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

when using the permagloss, make sure you do it in a well ventilated area. i did my first few coats in my room where i sleep and woke up with trouble breathing (even had the window open). Re: Will my LS Supreme Cure?

Thanks as always, best board around. I'm off to breath hot air on my wraps. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
