I still wrap my guides this way on double foot guides I wrap one foot then flip the rod and wrap the other foot so the windings are going in opposite direction. I also do this on single foot guides also. Does any one have a comment on this? I know this way is time consumeing. My thoughts on this is it helps the rod from tourqueing. Am I right or wrong?

Why would it stop the rod from tourqueing?

I feel pretty safe in saying that the rod and guides have not idea which direction the thread has been wrapped on the guides and that it will make zero difference.

I agree with Tom. No matter what direction you wrap, you can and should be able to manually repostition the guide prior to finishing. When you do this, it is not easier to move the guide one direction versus the other. I understand your thought process, but don't believe it to be true. I used to do the same, but finally gave in and learned to wrap both ways (also bought a lathe and force to start wrapping with thread feeding from top rather than bottom). It cuts time down dramatically. If you don't wrap many rods, don't worry about it. But, as I get busy and desire to also have time with my wife, efficiency becomes important. Just my 2 cents worth.
