It could be that no one here has used the Powell blanks so far. I think they are fairly new.

It's just my opinion but all those you list are very expensive blanks. Not to say that they aren't very good blanks but you can get just as good if not better for a lot less money with some of the St. Croix models and from what I have heard the Rainshadows too. I'm no expert but I cannot tell any difference between the $300 blanks and the $100 blanks.

try the st croix scIV's, you will not be disapointed, I have fished many different rods, including winston, which I have to say I was pretty disapointed with. plus after casting the 9' 4wt, I was ready to toss my loomis GL3 in the trash! I am sure you will hear it over and over on this board, good matketing and hoity toity adds in the "right" magazines don't make a good rod. As for rainshadow, I haven't built one of the fly rods yet, but I picked up one of their forecast import blanks, the very cheapest e-glass blank, and was very impressed with the quality-price value. well there's my lecture for today,
jeff

Try the Loomis IMX. They are slightly higher than the excel Rainshadows, but with Loomis, quality is a given. The pricing they came out with is excellent. This, along with the GL3 are my primary blanks. I have used the St. Croix SCIVs too, great blank, not a thing to complain about, but I like the action/weight/feel of the Loomis better. This, of course, is personal preference.
