When I stress test a two piece blank for guide placement should the ferrel be wrapped and epoxyed first? E.. Re: Stress test

It would be wise to have the ferrule wrapped snugly with thread. Finish is not absolutely necessary. Remember to get your thread wrap as near the edge of the ferrule opening as possible. Perhaps within 1mm or so. .............................. Re: Stress test

Eddie, When a friend proudly handed me a new, 2-piece Lami blank to check out, first I shook it to check the overall stiffness. Then I started flexing it, to check the action.... "TINK!" The tip section fell to the floor somehow!??!? I picked it up, and put it back on. That is when I realized that it had SPLIT. I had just broken my friend's sweet, brand new blank! Talk about feeling SICK! I felt miserable, but there was nothing to do but buy him a new blank. He refused, making me feel like more of a heel. I tell you this to say, NEVER stress test a 2 piece rod without wrapping the female end first! Hopefully, you will be saved much grief. TH Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
