Are the Pac Bay A-7 seats too small for a 7 wt rod? I am looking at those and the A-8's. I have used the A-7's for 5 wts. (and they are plenty beefy), but I'm wondering about the diameter... Thanks, Dan Ervin Re: reel seat proper size?

As long as your reel will fit it, then it will be fine. They may offer more than one bore size for the insert. Order the one you need that will fit the closest to the blank butt diameter. Re: reel seat proper size?

I use they A7 for 6-9 wt., then step up to the A8 for 10-12wts. Thats pretty much the rule of thumb down here in S. Florida. It really has nothing to do with strength.....It just kinda gives the flyrods a proportioned look for their weight and the reels used on them. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
