guides for fly rod

will be buying my guides tomorrow for my 5' 3-4 weight fly rod. what size guides are appropriate. what size stripper? will be using pac bay black chrome guides and whatever stripper is available at the store. any suggestions? this is a pretty slim fiber glass blank. one piece. thanks Re: guides for fly rod

Larry, I like to go with 3-#1/0s, 1-#1, 1-#2 and a #8 stripper. For light use the hardloy insert would be fine. You might consider single foot wire guides to keep it light. Good luck! Dan Craft Re: guides for fly rod

Will try this one more time. You are building a very short fly rod. suggest you use single footers, NO stripper, and maybe use a 3-guide butt set to increase casting distance a bit...try the site below for some infor on butt set...rod should also have Alconite tip top but may not be small enough, so Tic may be answer, with Fuji singles i.e.,1 #8 and 5 #7's or 6s, and may be slicker than Ti for casting distance, if that is consideration due to shorteness of wand. thanks for the advice. i am going with single footers. almost done with the wraps. the single footers are tough to wrap but i have it down now. using scarlet silk on the honey colored blank. will be pretty. dark guides. i went number 10 on the stripper. thanks again. larry Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
