Yes I apply to wraps while rod is turning, but on tip sections I hold tip section in hand and apply to wraps.. I apply 2-4 coats then I dip my rod.. Thanks Dave Re: Spar application

Hi Sean, I apply spar while holding the rod in my hands. Obviously I have to turn the rod to apply around its circumference. I apply so very little spar that turning the rods is completely unnecessary. I usually apply 5 coats. But each coat is as thin as possible, then wicked away with a dry brush. That way I apply a coat in the morning, and another in the evening, and in three days I'm ready to dip the entire bamboo section.
