I’d like to rebuild a custom fly rod that was made about 20 years ago on unmarked dark green graphite blanks. It’s 7’6”, ? 3 or 4 weight; I’d call it a full-flex. The builder thought the blanks were Lamiglas but I don’t find any indication that Lamiglas made small-stream graphite fly rods or blanks back then. Does anyone know if they did? (I’ve asked Lamiglas but they didn’t respond). Thanks Re: ID graphite fly rod blank- Lamiglas?

Lamiglas has made about every type of rod blank under the sun at one point or another. Some 20 to 25 years ago they produced a series of Perigee blanks. They were dark green with small gold flecks throughout. If you see the gold fleck this may be what you have. These were generally considered to be very good blanks.

No flecks, but you've answered my question. Thanks Re: ID graphite fly rod blank- Lamiglas?

Lamiglas made a few blanks on a dark green, darker than the Perigee series with no gold flakes, the Rogue River series and some of the IM700 series when Jim Teeny was designing a series of rods. The color was described as black forest green by Lamiglas, sometime around the 2003 timeframe for IM700, Rogue River blanks were pretty much always that color, and G1000 carbon. In this time period all the short rods were in their Appalachian line, all 3 piece, X50 carbon, both a 7' 6" 3 and 4 weight, the only colors I remember was raw carbon and burgundy depending on the year, but Lamiglas was never afraid to play with colors from time to time, some lasting a year only. They once made the IM700 rods/blanks a baby poop tan that I'm not sure lasted even a year. Re: ID graphite fly rod blank- Lamiglas?

Yep - "black forest green" would be a good description. Looking at my records, I bought it in 2006 so that lines up. Many thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
