Good morning,
Looking for a 7'6- 7' 9 sensitive blank for a casting jetty rod build. This rod will be used for striped bass fishing with jig heads and soft plastic and sp minnow lures. I need something light with a lot of backbone. Thank you in advance for any information. Re: Jetty rod casting blank

Al can you give us a little more information here? What weight jigs you want to throw and what do you plan on using for a reel and line? And the fish, do you want a rod to target the avg size fish you'll be catching or something to handle the occasional heavier fish? For example in the springtime we have a lot of 18" fish around and I fish for them with a 2-4lb class rod and it's a lot of fun and lets that little fish take drag and bend a rod. The occasional 10 pounder over powers the rod but that's what a lot of guys gear up for. How would you like to do it? Re: Jetty rod casting blank

I will be using jigs from 1/4 to 1 once, with a low profile casting reel with 20 pound test. I will be fishing for strippers average size 10-30 pounds. Looking for sensitive blank with some back bone to be able to fight also big blue fish. Re: Jetty rod casting blank

Alf, Look at Get Bit Outdoors Saltwater Composite blanks. I think you will find one that fits your application.Soft tip for casting and stiff butt for power. Dennis J. Danku (Sayreville,NJ) Re: Jetty rod casting blank

Look at the Rainshadow RX8 salmon rods. I've built one into spin, one into cast. The cast really is a long distance caster. XST series has changed some since I built, but a lot of options. Keep in mind that you can cut off from the butt if needed,, but long = long casts. Cutting from the butt will slightly slow the action and slightly reduce the power. Re: Jetty rod casting blank
