Has anyone built this blank and used it for crappie? Casting 1/32-1/16oz jigs/plastics to brush/cribs and under a float for shallow spring fish, underspin and safety pin spinners, size 04 X-Raps, tiny swimbaits, etc? PB clearly markets their blanks for bass fishing - is this blank still a bit too beefy for crappie? I'm still on my quest to find a blank to rival the St Croix Panfish Series..... This blank is more powerful than many of our dropshot blanks. Re: Point Blank PB701LXF - crappie?

The PB701LXF has an IP 439 which, for me, puts in on the low end of Medium power. It is not a blank I'd consider for panfish.
Have you tried the NFC Xray p700 blank? It's an incredible blank marketed for BFS and inshore with an IP 115g making it an ultralight rod but it has plenty of strength in the butt. It is one of my favorite blanks and excels at everything you mentioned. I have no trouble throwing down to 2g hardbaits on it with a Shimano aldeberan BFS and imagine it'd be awesome as a spinning rod. Another slightly more powerful option that I've built as a spinning rod for small river bass (throwing rebel wee craws, teeny torpedoes, inline spinners, etc...) is the nfc delta cb701, ip ~250g. It would also work well as a sacalait blank. The last blank I've built that I'd recommend is the nfc xray ds6100. It's about as powerful as the delta cb701 but has a very soft tip that transitions to a decent backbone. It's a great vertical jigging rod for sacalait. I think it'd work well for your intended purposes. Re: Point Blank PB701LXF - crappie?

I'd say definitely better for panfish than drop shot. 303 g, 12.7 ERN Re: Point Blank PB701LXF - crappie?
