Looking to copy the reel seat and forgrip that is being used on GLoomis TSR series rods. Looks like it’s an up locking bottom section and a plastic hood. I called Mudhole and was told it’s a proprietary design however I found it also on Shakespeare Wild River series and some Fenwick Rods. I really like the feel of the grip it provides but am having trouble sourcing the components. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In looking at it, that front hood seems the most difficult. I haven’t seen anything like that on any of the supplier’s websites. You may be able to use a regular hood and do some creative cork work, but it won’t be exact. Maybe that hood piece is out there somewhere tho.

A pipe style seat mounted up-locking in size 17 or 18 will come pretty close. Just won't have the taper. The cork off the front would be easy to make, and everything behind the seat is simple.

Wiebe/ Super Sticker reel seat uplocking with a custom shaped fore grip with a smaller than normal diameter rear grip to make it look sleeker, a piece of cake. Mr. Timberlake wrote an article on a similar hand build using a Tennessee grip slip ring and a threaded section off a reel seat. Called it the skull and cross bones or something like that seat. The mid cork sections are still available at Angler's Workshop and on sale in the 16 mm threaded section size that can be easily adapted to a 17 mm build in a couple minutes. I still have a few trigger seats left and maybe a dozen spinning from when D & E rods went out of business, all the round thread and aluminum locking ring style, a few wood mid sections also, I could sell you one, but it would only be one and Mr. Timberlakes seat design would be more sustainable. The OD you are looking to build to is 27 mm.
