Lathe 'hack' for turning ECSM grips

Hey folks, need an idea for turning the reel seat grip when using Fuji ECSM seats.
The back end of these seats are not round. The vertical is 3 hundredth greater than the horizontal.
I like very smooth fitting when transitioning from seat to grip and I turn my own cork (burl in this case).
Does anyone have an idea how I can turn my grips to get more of an oval shape?
I was thinking pieces of tape, or maybe flat tooth picks jammed under the cork?
Thanks and I hope this makes sense!!!

We did an article on turning oval grips in a past RodMaker.

Otherwise, you can simply do a bit of hand sanding/filing to gain that slight oval you need after you get the grip concentric.

The first one. The second is more about getting the OD concentric to the ID. Thanks.

The OP only needs a tiny bit of adjustment. I think I'd turn round to the diameter of the largest OD of the seat, then hand sand or file the sides to the seat's smallest OD, then get back on the lathe with some fine grip paper to smooth the whole thing out.
