Hello,
I have been trying to search the site for a walleye bottom bouncer blank from NFC in the 1/2 to 3/4 Oz range and have been unsuccessful in finding a good recommendation. Is there a blank for something like this? In ND it is pretty much standard practice to troll around using spinners and bottom bouncers all summer long looking for walleye, but also wanting a rod to occasionally jig with. Is there a blank to bridge between the two from NFC? I say NFC because G Loomis is the gold standard for every ND walleye fisherman I know. There is certainly a market for these rods IMO. Thanks Re: NFC Walleye Bottom Bouncer Blank?

Hello! I’m new to posting here. A fellow North Dakotan myself. In my opinion a crosssover for bottom bouncing and jigging is a stretch. First question is what weight bottom bouncers do you usually use? Re: NFC Walleye Bottom Bouncer Blank?

There several post about Bottom bouncer rods. When using the search function make sure you check all post there a lot of information on sight. The idea of using a BB to jig with seems counter productive because of the heavy action of a BB rod. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 03/06/2024 04:24PM by Scott Appley. Todd, guessing usually 3/4 ounce most the time. Re: NFC Walleye Bottom Bouncer Blank?

I would go with a MH fast blank. 7’ to 7’6”. There are a ton of options out there. I wouldn’t spend a lot on a BB blank. Scrap the idea of using it as a jig rod and build a jig rod. Jigging, especially pitching light jigs shallow is a completely different ball game. If you indeed want a jig rod, a little bit higher end blank is a good idea. If you want help or more specifics you can message me. Re: NFC Walleye Bottom Bouncer Blank?

Crankbait blank for bottom bouncer rod, and a different rod for jigs. Depending on how they are rated, a M or at most MH is plenty of power for 3/4oz bouncers. The blank will have enough flex to keep the fish hooked up, and it will of course do double duty as a cranking rod - you'll probably want more than one....
