I am looking for a seven foot blank to build a mangrove sapper spinning rod, fish in the ten pound range, 80' to 100' of water on the west coast of Florida using a 5000 series spinning reel with 30 lb braided line and baited circle hooks. 1 to 2 oz sinkers. I'd rather be catching! Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 11/13/2023 05:20PM by Eddie Anderson. Re: mangrove snapper rod blank suggestion

Hi Eddie
Look at the CTS AIR 7'0" 3/4 - 1 3/4 Oz. One or two piece. They have lower as well as higher ratings [ctsfishing.com] Email me for special RB.Org pricing. Herb CTS Re: mangrove snapper rod blank suggestion

NFC 703 or 704 Pelagic saltwater blanks, I have caught your fish and much larger on both. Myself, I would grab the 703, but I have no idea how much lead and bait you are using, by the way the 703 should read 1 - 3 oz. not lbs. Re: mangrove snapper rod blank suggestion

In the same range as the other options given is the United Composites, GUSA UC70H. The double helix construction is strong and still pretty light. The moderate-fast action is very versatile with bait and jigging. The more I build on and use blanks by United Composites, the less I look at other makes for vertical saltwater fishing.
