Hello Folks,ff
With the current NFC sale, I was looking at building a couple rods during the winter. I am looking to upgrade 1 or 2 rods and am seeking recommendations for a couple applications that are not as clearly defined on the NFC website. I am looking for a medium or medium heavy spinning blank for inshore saltwater casting 1/8-1/2 jigs and a spinning blank for catfishing. I fish out of canoe and can't utilize a rod longer then 7'3". I've looked at some of the lighter jigging rods, but unsure of their application for casting and bottom fishing. Thanks, Will Re: NFC blank recommendations

We know nothing about your location, what species, etc. You'll see few Med. Hvy rods that will throw 1/8 oz. effectively. Re: NFC blank recommendations

What kind of fish are you targeting? The Xray SJ736 and MB736 are 2 options I'd consider for the upper end of that range. They're overkill for speckled trout in my opinion, but if you're tangling with larger fish they'd be great. The MB is the lighter of the 2 and a little slower action. Probably better coverage for your entire weight range. Another one to consider is the HM MB705. It's similar in power to the MB736 I think. The Xray IS764 is also worth a look. Cutting 3" off the bottom wouldn't be a big deal. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
