Hello Kerry, I’m a little confused when reading your response. Are you saying that the foam plug wouldn’t stop the male ferrule end from being damaged? The only reason I would be adding adhesive to the tip of the plug would be to keep in in place and stop it from moving further down the blank. Re: Male Rod Ferrule Plug Question

The foam or any other plug is to keep stuff from getting inside, not a structural item. what I was talking about from a practical point of view was to add a thin coat of some sort of adhesive at the tip of the plug to keep it from sliding further into the blank, is not going affect the blanks shape because in that area you now have two walls of blanks, the male ferrule and the female ferrule. It is a structural item, although not usually a terribly important one. Your plug is fine as is. Slipping down a mere millimeter isn't going to affect anything.
