Looking to build 4 offshore spinning rods, primarily for tuna 50 - 100lb. Range
Action would be fast, Lure wt. 4 to 8 oz. What are some of your choices for blanks, grips, & guides? Thanks Re: Offshore Spinning Rods

I’ve built four tuna popping rods this year using Stryker SW7105 and SW745 blanks, with KW guides and DPS 20 reel seats. Three had carbon fiber split grips with full wells carbon fiber fore grips, and one with EVA grips. These blanks are made in the US and are quite nice. The people I made them for love them, and have caught some nice fish with them.

Thanks Norm,
I’ll check those out. Are you familiar with Black Hole, Cape Cod Special, 1 pc jigging 150g? Re: Offshore Spinning Rods

I’ve never used the Black Hole jigging rod blanks. The rods I built were for casting lures to schooling tuna in the Gulf of Mexico, not for deep jigging.

I've built two Black Hole 7'6" Nano Popping rods. The guys using them have caught numerous yellowfin in the 50# to 75# range. Pretty cool 2 piece design. The finished factory rod sells for over $600. Buy the blank and build it to Black Hole specs and it costs about $325. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
