Sabre 500 Blank

I know this is a stretch but I have to ask. My Dad had a rod built for himself probably 40 or 50 years ago on a Sabre 500 blank. I still have the rod and use it trolling for King Salmon on a river near my house. I love this rod and it catches fish. The problem is my buddies love this rod too. I would love to find a couple of blanks or built rods I could strip and rebuild. I don't have a clue where to look. I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Thanks, Jon Gold Re: Sabre 500 Blank

Lance:
I also use a couple of CalStar T-608 rods that I Roberts wrapped. Those rods catch fish too. The Sabre 500 just has a "feel" like no other rod I've tried and I've tried quite a few. When trolling a 360 it has that particular bump every second as the 360 rotates that you can see in the tip and can feel if you are holding it in your hands. I guess maybe an old fiberglass rod just feels different. If you can think of a blank that would feel the same I'm happy to listen. I've had 30+ pound kings hook up, then take off up the river and it just feels like they are within control. Maybe it's a mental thing considering this was my fathers rod and he has caught a pant load of kings on it. Maybe it's just my imagination. What do you think? Ron: I think I might have a T-500 in my pile, I'll have to look. I wouldn't be surprised if Leon duplicated it once he started up CalStar. Thanks, Jon Re: Sabre 500 Blank

If you cannot find a direct duplicate, learn CCS, do the process, publish the numbers and ask for help. And check [docs.google.com] for possible matches. Re: Sabre 500 Blank

My grandad fished a rod that was about 7 ft. long, maybe a 15-30 line power range slightly less power as my Fenwick glass FlippinStik but more moderate than you expect from today's rods. Sound close to your blank? He fished it over the old Johnson Sea Horse 75 V-4 for Columbia salmon on his 18 ft. wood cabin cruiser. It was a Sabre but I don't remember anything else.
