Deep drop jigging rods Saltwater

Have a request for deep drop jig and slow jig rods from a relative for head boat trips (pulley ridge, Yankee Captain etc) Rail fishing.

30-60 lbs classes. Slow pitch jigs are 2-400 grams. Depths from 200-1000. Typically fish 6-10oz weights for bait.

Initial thought is a Calstar 800H or MH for standard jig and bait. For slow pitch, not too many longer blanks out there aa the Capt recommends 8’ rods. Will be built as conventional. Rain shadow and black hole look to have 7’ blanks? I have never built a slow pitch rod, though I do own a couple

Any recommendations are welcomed. Last head boat trip I took, I used a 113N ;)

Thanks

Tim Scott

Check out Rainshadow slow jig models here: [batsonenterprises.com],
and heavier vertical jig models here: [batsonenterprises.com]
We'll also be offering 7'6" slow jig models in 60/80g through 400/600g powers later this summer. [getbitoutdoors.com] usually has new products in stock shortly after they're released.

The United Composites CE800Mega would be worth a look. It’s a 25-40 lb class with moderate action. I have their UC79Mega in the same line rating and it handles 12oz jigs at 550 feet. These are well built blanks and I have fully drank the dual helix punch. The 3 oz rating is for casting, not jigging.
