A friend was given an unfinished bamboo fly rod. He wants me to finish the guides and thread finish. Never worked with bamboo before. Ok to use Pro Kote? Re: Pro Kote Thread Finish For Bamboo?

On the wraps? Yes. If you want a traditional look just do this - apply epoxy to the wraps and allow to set for maybe 5 minutes or so. Take a gloved finger and wipe off the epoxy. What will be left will look like a traditional varnish wrap.

Man O War Spar would get my vote. It’s going to take you 5-6 coats, but for bamboo it’s a classic finish. Re: Pro Kote Thread Finish For Bamboo?
