Question on old guides

Going back to the Reagan era, Fuji once made some guides for trolling rods with 3 legs. 2 of them straddled the blank and one sat on top. I believe these were the RSG series. But they also made a heavier duty version of these that sat higher and were beefier. The SIC rings were mushroom type if I recall correctly. I do not believe they were offered for more than a year or two. I always liked the look of them but never purchased a set. Now I could use some. Question - does anyone know the Fuji model number of these types and what is the chance that anyone would have a full set lying around somewhere? Can't hurt to ask. Use my email if you would prefer not to be bombarded by requests from other tackle junkies who are also looking for these. RSG's

You are correct. The RSG's were available in 20H, 20, 16, 16L I believe. I believe they were also known as Turbo guides. The rings were flanged. They dropped them and only offer the crappy black stuff now. GHRSG

You are referring to the huge mushroom ringed GHRSG. These were an overgrown, even more massive version of the RSG and to my knowledge were offered only in the gold finish. They were only available in sizes 16, 20 and 20 high. All had the flanged or mushroom ring. The only set I ever saw was on a factory (Lews) 80 or 130 lb IGFA trolling rod. Nice rod. Wish I had bought it just for the guides. I have most of the old Lew's/Fuji catalogs from the late 70's thru the mid-80's and I only see them listed for 2 years. If you wind up with any extra set, please let me know. ........................... Re: GHRSG

I knoe exactly what you are talking about, the guides with the two legs that went on the sides of the rod. I have a clemens catalog from '99 that has them in there, they were the BRNG's available in sz 10,12,16L,16 with a S.I.N. ring(silicone nitride it says)maybe email dick french and see if he still has any of these. dfrench@clemenstackle.com although, every rod I have ever seen with thos guide has had massive cracks in the finish around thost two side legs. Not the same

Those aren't the same. What Mike is talking about was a much heavier, beefier version of the RSG or RNG series. These guides were fitted with large mushroom SIC rings and available in only 3 series. They were intended for the very large 80 to unlimited class offshore trolling rods. They seem to have disappeared from the Fuji line sometime in the mid-80's. ..................... Re: Not the same

Mike Ballard, send me an email or how do I get yours. I tried clicking on your name but my settings don't let me get you address. Had a senior moment!

Kirkman is correct. I believe that they were the RNG, big mothers! I think that they also were nick-named Turbo because of the configuration of the ring. The RSG's are the lighter model of the three footers with flanged rings in SIC Gunsmoke and Gold that used RST tops. Senior moments come more and more here lately. I still may be wrong. Check with Angler's Workshop also. They may have some RSG's laying around. Thanks

Thanks for all the info. It appears that the GHRSG's are the ones I am looking for. Should I happen upon a cache of them somewhere I will surely report it here. Thanks again. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
