Probably/possibly...The blank was not really an issue at the time.
Though at times where I use dry ice, the blank (what was left) was unscathed.

It would be great to have an epoxy that reliably released in a temperature range between what sun rays do in a hot climate and what would damage CF and the thermal resins that hold blanks together. The idea of dry ice is interesting for releasing epoxies. I use white rod tubes for roof top carry.

I had success with boiling and live at 5,500 feet, but had to keep going in one minute increments until I could move the reel seat.

Different epoxies have different temperature points, and also depends on how much was used.

The difficult part is that if you twist the seat you risk ruining the blank's fiber structure. So you really only want to pull.

David, you definitely need to pull, not twist. I have no idea what kind of epoxy was used as it's an old broken Abu Garcia rod that I experimented with, but it wouldn't budge even after almost an hour over boiling water. 10 minutes in the oven, however, and it popped off faster than a smart mouth teenager. lol

I appreciate the information provided by your experiment. Depending on the elevation where you live water boils at something less than 212 degrees F. Obviously, the release point was somewhere between that and 375 degrees F. Without knowing the epoxy Garcia used, it may not matter. Still, it’s worth knowing if these parts can be removed without harm to blanks.
