So I was thinking of building a Sage R8 rod and when I added up. all the components am\nd materials I would only save $100 . I am on the fence as to whether to proceed. Bill Re: CTS , crystal coat who carries it

Bill,
What is your priority in building the rod? To save money or to build a better rod than you can buy? Does the Sage model offer a grip size and style that you fits your hand? Does it have the components you prefer? If it checks all the boxes for you as-is, then buy the Sage model. If there are other things you'd like to see on the rod, build it yourself. ............ William,
That begs the question - why do you want to contribute to Sage's advertizing budget. You'd have to go a long way to find a blank that will perform as well as a CTS product - bar none - especially a Sage. And - much more affordable than a Sage.
