paint touch up on aluminum reel seat

I was a bit careless with my dremel and made a very small nick in the annodized aluminum reel seat for my current buiid. There's now a really small spot, only a couple millimeters, where it took off the black paint. It's purely cosmetic, but was wondering if anyone had any ideas how to I can touch this up to hide the bright aluminum spot I have now on my black reel seat. I have looked online a bit for painting annodized aluminum and people mention sanding down the area and using a primer but the blemish is so small I think I would do more harm that good with this method.

Thanks,
MC

I’d use a car paint scratch repair pen. I have a Rustoleum (spell?) gloss black pen I use on my car that works great. It fills through the clear coat and almost impossible to find once it dries. I don’t see any reason why it wouldn’t fix your issue.

Marc,
Try a black sharpie.

Pretty tough and long lasting.

Thanks for the ideas.

Unfortunately I tried a sharpie and it didn't work. I don't think the ink has anything to absorb and dry into for anodized aluminum. It just wiped off even after waiting for it to dry.

The car paint pen is a great idea, I'll give that a shot.

Is it in a spot where you can add a bit of hand painted art? Something small and unique.

If that doesn't work, mask off the area and borrow your goth friend's black nail polish to fill it in.

Industrial grade Sharpies are made for safely marking metal.

Spencer's nail polish suggestion would probably work too. You'll want to apply it with a toothpick, or a fine tip quill pen nib (if you have one), etc... Definitely wouldn't use the provided applicator. That'll just make a big mess.

If it were me, I'd try the nail polish( I use Sally Hansen on my ice jigs and it's just about bulletproof. Another option is the low chloride paint pens they use on stainless steel which has worked well for me, I've used it on nicked black guide frames (Nissan is the brand I use, check Amazon ). Sharpies haven't worked well for me, they aren't as "permanent" as advertised. Clean the nicked spot with a Q Tip and acetone or alcohol first.

Excuse my misspelling, Nissen is the brand I use.

Thanks for suggestions David. I think I am going to try the nail polish and if it does work will give those paint pens a try.

I would try black auto touch up paint or an acrylic you can buy cheap from Michaels.

Could also try black pigment mixed in with epoxy.
