I've built a few pretty powerful casting rods and never used a double foot second guide. I think for most "bass" rods, KB's are plenty strong. I often use three, never fewer than two on BC. Re: Fuji KW versus Fuji LRV

Thank you . For most of the folks here , this may seem very basic but for people like me it helps to begin to understand the "why" . Like you said , it may just be advertising but it still helps . Thanks again . Ron Re: Fuji KW versus Fuji LRV

Ronald and Kevin, Yes! That's the chart! Thanks for posting the link, Kevin!
Kendall, As per the chart referenced above, they recommend (2) KW butt guides (10 and 5.5) for situations that load casting rods deeper into the butt section. Note; The chart uses the term "Choker" guide in a different way than I have learned. (Not saying Fuji is wrong - it is their term for their system) I learned it something like like this: Butt Guide = the first guide for casting rods. Reduction Guide (Or Reduction Train) = the first three guides for spinning rods; usually there are three of these; Fuji shows one more option I thought interesting. Stripper Guide = the first guide for fly rods. Choker Guide = the first running guide for all rods, usually the same size as the other running guides. The Choker is usually a KB type guide for spinning rods. Not sure if this word is used for fly rods much. I throw these terms out there because there are several newer rod-builders showing up on the forum. I'm not hung up on it, and know what people mean when they use a term. For a newbie, it might help a little, especially since the Choker guide's purpose and placement is different from the others (according to the way I learned it). Edited 2 time(s). Kevin,
The Mud Hole catalogue shows the RV6 coming in two frame color choices: T2 (I assume Black Titanium); and T (Titanium). The KB's and KT's have more frame color choices and also include T2 and T finishes. So, if you want all guides to match in color, you are limited to two choices, T2 and T. I have always used the RV6, T frame, with BC Grey Alconite KB's and KT's. Looks good to me (and doesn't bother me that the butt guide is a different color). Different. Unique. The T2 RV6 looks good the the new Gun Metal finish. Both have the SiC insert Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
