Im building an NFC X-ray 733 as another finesse rod for me.I have all my parts short of the blank and while I wait for it I would like to take care for the grips. I have an American tackle areo cct real seat and a carbon fiber split grip. I would like to clear the grips before I build the rod to make assembly easier I hope! Lol
I saw a video on clearing a grip with perma gloss. In the video they were clearing a carbon fiber fly rod grip . In the video he used the same epoxy he used to make the grip and covered it in a final coat of perma gloss. My question is this. As of right now the grip fits really firmly in the reel seat as it sits with no finish on it. Should I finsh the handles with the grips put together or should I use multiple thin layers of perma gloss. Thanks in advance. Re: Clearing carbon fiber grips

You can do it either way. Consider not finishing the area that fits into the seat. That way your clearances won't change.
