What is it about a Spey blank that makes it a Spey? Is it the taper, action? I know length is a factor. But what else is there. Please educate me.
Thanks Re: Spey

A blank that is built to compliment the double hand casting strokes with a spey line is a spey rod blank. Some single hand fly blanks have worked very well, the vast majority, not so much. Switch rods are just short spey rods, they start at around 9 ft. 9 inches and go up. My switch rods are Dan Craft FT blanks, 10 ft. long, originally designed as single hand blanks. Re: Spey

For Spey, the action is unique so that it loads properly during the casting stroke. Taper is a major factor as we// as the length in it's action. While switch rods were initially quite popular in the early spey growth, they have fallen some, especially for large rivers. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
