Fenwick HMG Steelhead Blanks

Has anyone ever heard of fenwick offering blanks?? I just had a distributor call claiming to have Fenwick HMG 2pc. 8'6" steelhead blanks. I went to look at them, they look like Fenwicks (color, material) but no Fenwick stamps on them. Wondering if anyone else has had the same call or knows anything about these blanks.
Thanks!

Fenwick was once a major player in the rod blank market. Some of them were very good products and still have a major following. To my knowledge they have not offered blanks since they were purchases by OTG and moved overseas some years ago.

Some old Fenwick models are still available and floating around. What you have run across may well be a Fenwick HMG. Just remember that there is no one to offer a warranty on them now and there is no guarantee that they are first quality Fenwicks.

First quality Fenwicks normally had a paper/foil sticker with the model number affixed to the blank.

I totally agree with Tom. I live about 50 miles where Fenwick blanks were made. this is were Sage fly rod blanks are now made. When Fenwick soldout and went over seas Fenwick blanks were no longer avelable. I a case like yours it is buyer beware
Good luck Bob

Fenwick Rods are made in China, and have been for many years now. It is true that their base is in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Although no rod or blank production is done there.
