I received more pieces of historic fishing gear. I have a Montague New Yorker 8740 which is in pristine shape. It is a short 2 piece rod where the butt section has a metal piece that goes into the rod itself. This seems like it could be something significant, but not sure.
There is also a Montague Stone Harbor which is split bamboo and has eyes on both sides. Very distinct piece. It does have some pitting on the reel seat and does come with the original green bag. Anyone know if these are worth anything or mere wall hangings? Re: Montague New Yorker 8740 / Montague Stone Harbor

Montague rods were bargain rods and they made tons of them. What you have is a boat rod with a common wood handle and ferruled seat that the rod fits into. The reason for guides on both sides of the rod is to allow you fish the rod in opposite directions day to day so that the rod is not as likely to take a set. You most likely have a "Tulip top" on the tip section.

In really good shape it might bring $100 to $200 if you find the right person.
