Thanks Aleks & the RodBuilding.org community - happy to join here as a Forum sponsor. This forum is a great wealth of information with great collective knowledge that the craft benefits from greatly - and thank Tom for all his years of work to keep it running smoothly, and we look forward to what the future holds here as well!
Back Creek Custom Rods is a custom rod builder like you, but we have expanded to offer custom color anodized titanium guides, to give your custom rod that special touch. We're working on getting things fully up and going on the website so that you can directly order, but until then just reach out via the request form on the site ( [www.backcreekcustomrods.com] ) or via email ( backcreekcustomrods@gmail.com ) and we'll work up a quote. [www.rodbuilding.org] A quick introduction to myself & Back Creek Custom Rods. I've been a fisherman since the time I was about 3, with a cane pole in hand fishing off the pier with Granddad on the bank of the Perquimans River in Eastern NC, and then later with him out in an old 16' aluminum boat in the Albemarle Sound. As time went on the fishing gear changed, but the love of fishing remained. I really reconnected with it in a big way a little over 10 years ago when I started striped bass fishing for landlocked striper on Smith Mountain Lake, VA - which lead to leading a local fishing club there and then running a Catch-Photo-Release tournament series on SML - the Striper Mafia Tournament Series - which is starting its 7th season this weekend. Some years ago I wanted to cut my teeth on building rods but things never aligned. Well a couple of years ago I decided it was time to change that - started reading a lot here, watching YouTube videos from the like of DocSki, Mary McIntyre Christie, Bill Falconer and many others, and working out the details of what all I needed to get into the craft. My 1st foray into the world was the 2020 ICRBE - spent 2 days there sitting in most of the Show seminars along with many of the presentations at the NERBs booth learning from Billy Vivona, David Boyle and others - coming away excited, energized about merging rod art with the practical side, and a bit lighter in the pocket from a few purchases on blanks and other supplies. Between setting up my workspace, gathering the gear I decided I needed to build, build a drying cabinet (thanks Roger W for your input & advice), and then rotator cuff surgery during the Summer of that year, it was almost Sept before I finally put thread to a rod... but its been non-stop since. Well we went from an attendee at the last ICRBE to exhibitor this year and it was great to have an opportunity to meet a number of you and look forward to meeting more in the years to come - as well as see some additional color on those rods.... That UVA rod artwork is mind bending. I was looking for some really nice orange double foot guides for a special build last week. Never did find any so I used black. Now I know where to find special colors. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
