Just getting ready to order some diamond II wrap finish to try for the first time and see that they make a UV version what do you recommend does the UV change the clarity or the ease of use any and what are the disadvantages to it ,

They do make a UV version in addition to their standard D2. D2 is my favorite thread-coat epoxy!

It is my understanding from previous posts on this forum that the UV protection mentioned is the capability of the finish itself to resist damage (yellowing) from UV. It does not refer to the protection of what's under it, like decals. The rods themselves probably are not very sensitive to UV, but decals done with inkjet printers are very likely to change color and/or fade regardless of what epoxy is used. I've never had what I thought was rod damage from the sun, but my rods are only in the sun when I'm fishing. I wouldn't store any rod in the sun. Eventually it will attack the wraps, plastic seat parts, or grip (cork/EVA).

I like D-2, but have not used the UV version. Casey is very helpful, ask him.

The protection from added UV absorber unfortunately is not permanent. Best I can tell it works for a few months to a year.
