Does any one know of a 13 ft MM surf rod that is out there that won't break the bank? Sub 200.00 is what I am looking for, but I'd like to know if anything is out there in that power/action. Closest I can find is the RodGeeks SRF130MHMF2, but it's a MHMF. Does anyone have any experience with this rod? It's stated 3-10 oz and I'm wondering how close that is. I have the SRF110MM2 and it's rated at 2-6 but I feel as I'm at the limit with 3.5oz. it loads with no effort at all. All that said, it is a good rod, I just get more distance with a 13', and I have people who prefer the 13 over the 11. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/04/2021 11:28AM by Fred Zimmermann. I have the 6-16 and it feels like I can throw a brick with it. Granted I don't 'power cast' ....just let the rod do fhe work. Re: Looking for a13ft medium power, moderate action surf rod

Tommy Farmer’s Carolina Cast Pro Gen 2 blank. 13’ 3-6oz. It’s a great rod. Re: Looking for a13ft medium power, moderate action surf rod

I've had a few locals chime in on first hand experience over the weekend and I'm told the Gen 1 has a little more moderate action over the Gen 2. Whats your experience with the Gen 2? I don’t have any personal experience but Talon Rods are known for their USA made long surf blanks. They might have a model that suits you. Re: Looking for a13ft medium power, moderate action surf rod

They might have a model that suits you. Thank you for that tip. They didn't have what I was looking for but they manufacture rods for other companies that did have something that got my attention from Thrasher Rods. I'm close to pulling the trigger on one. Not much experience on the Gen 1. I own the Gen 2’s in the 11’ 2-5 oz paired with an Akios 555 to use for Pompano fishing. I absolutely love it. By far my favorite surf rods. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
