I'm replacing the rod tips on a few of my friends trolling rods with roller tips. Is there a specific adhesive to use? I planned on using regular rod tip adhesive, then wrapping/epoxying it on there. Thanks! Re: Adhesive for trolling rod tip

I tend to use 5-minute epoxy on offshore rod tips. But given the amount of surface area involved you could do as well with common hot-melt glue provided you make sure to get the glue down inside the tiptop tube as well as on the blank tip. Most hot-melt failures are the result of just smearing some glue onto the rod blank and pushing the tiptop on. In that instance, most of the adhesive is simply pushed down the rod blank, leaving almost none between the tiptop and blank tip.
Do this - heat the end of the hot-melt stick and smear it all over the open end of the tiptop. Now apply just a couple or three seconds of heat to the tiptop tube and then push it firmly onto the rod blank tip. ............. Re: Adhesive for trolling rod tip

Ha it's okay, thank you for the link to the other thread. It looks like regular rod tip adhesive gets the win. Re: Adhesive for trolling rod tip

I cut slivers of hot melt glue and push them into thr tip top tube. I heat the tip top until the glue melts, and flows completely into the tp top tube. I the apply a small amount of hot melt onto the rod tip. I heat the tip top until the glue again melts, and push the rod tip into the tip top, making sure it is aligned properly. Let it cool, test by twisting a bit. Never had one fail. Tight Lies and frisky fish RJF Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
