What do you all prefer for writing ultra thin inscriptions on rods? I am currently using speedball ink w a fine point calligraphy pen Re: Best ultra fine point calligraphy nib

That is the finest combination I have found. Also the most difficult to master. Re: Best ultra fine point calligraphy nib

I will certainly agree to the difficulty, there are many days I feel like my inscription was written by a 3rd grader Re: Best ultra fine point calligraphy nib

I created a wood channel that the blank lays in. It supports my hand at puts the blank close to the surface (like writing on a piece of paper). It seems like the closer I am to a natural writing surface, the better my results. And it stabilizes the blank. Re: Best ultra fine point calligraphy nib

Jim I like your idea, sounds like an improvement over the way I do it. I use a Speed Ball Hunt 102 nib. It has a fine tip and is easy to use. I find the extra fine nibs hard to work with. I use Dr PH Martin's iridescent calligraphy ink, in gold or silver and sometimes black. It never bleeds when coated with epoxy finish or even Permagloss.
This company has a nice selection of nibs to choose from. The pointed pen and crow quill nibs have some extra fine listings. [www.paperinkarts.com] Norm Re: Best ultra fine point calligraphy nib

Jim that’s a great idea, thank you. Norman, I will try the nib you suggested and see what I can come up. Much appreciate the suggestions gentlemen! Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
