Hello I'm new to the rod building but want to start making my own so have higher end rids to use for my Walleye tournaments. I see few reel seats that catch my eye and wondering views on these. I have a Denali Myriad with this reel seat which feels comfy and amazing in my hand for jigging and pitching jigs. Is this an Aero reel seat since no visible markings on it to identify.
So the 3 im looking at is CCT Aero, G2 Wave, G2 Apex, Seaguide Alien XSS Re: spin reel seat options

Whatever you choose, make sure it's big enough for good ergonomics for you. I like the size 17 Fuji DPSSD mounted up-locking with a small ramp off the front. Very comfortable, very sensitive, good looking.

Also the Fuji IPS, A very conformable seat, the OD where you hold the reel is about 27 mm, aproximately the dame as the aero seat. You can get cork, eva, or carbon fiber grips that fit it. I like the NFC IPS carbon fiber grip.

I am extremely pleased with the Aero CCT reel seats, expecially when matched with the G2 rod handle system. Doesn't get much better than that, and it's a lightweight combination as well. Paired with the new Microwave 25's, you can have a truly custom rod with high tech components that really perform.

Aero seats are the only seat I use on light spinning rods. The CCT seat just adds another option to top end builds. The feel of the aero is natural and comfortable. Comfort finish is also a great feel.
If you need a seat painted, the basic seat painted by Don Shafar turns out awesome!!! Re: spin reel seat options

I have built many rods with the Aero reel seat from American Tackle. I have used the comfort and non-comfort Aero. They also have it in a size 17. If you build a rod with these reel seats you will be very pleased with them. They fit in your hand perfectly. Re: spin reel seat options

The style is right for the Denali, but more than one company makes that style seat. Re: spin reel seat options

Judging by the shape of the inset line on the palm swell, the seat on the Denali looks like the PacBay variation of that seat. Re: spin reel seat options

All my spinning rods have the American Tackle dagger seats. I fit them up locking as I tend to hold rod with only my little finger behind the reel stem. I find it very comfortable and looked great. Although my lay build a nfc X-ray 732, I used the Fuji vss seat as I wanted to use the nfc soft touch split grips. I mounted that one down locking as I couldn’t figure a trim configuration that made it look ok uplocking. But as it is it turned out to be a sharp looking seat on that rod. Re: spin reel seat options

I wouldn't want to bet my life on a major difference between the two brands. I personally prefer the 17 mm Aero size and I have short fingered hands. Like Norm though, those new NFC grips for the Fuji IPS or VSS are pretty awesome. Just bought 5 sets for the IPS because they are larger diameter. Edited 1 time(s). Guys, I'm pretty much sold on your description of the Aero reel seat. Question: I have small hands (no jokes please) - what size Aero reel seat would go best with a MHX CB841? Many thanks. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
