I just took a newly finished Eternity2 fly rod -- 9 ft. 6wt. -- for a test drive on the front lawn. Paired with a brand new SA Mastery 6WF fly line that I bought a couple years ago. Very nice casting machine. Of course I cannot say how it will feel to toss a nymph -- or with fish on the line. But for casing a line, leader and dry fly, I give it a very impressed thumbs up. Yes, the color is very cobalt, and I wrapped it in a closely-matced, one-color cobalt thread. So it is cobalt city for sure. Pac Bay single-foot TiGrey guides. My first build with single-foot guides. I will have to see what I think of that, but they work just fine on the lawn. This is advertised as a super-fast action rod by Batson, but my initial impression is that it felt more in the mod-fast to fast territory I perceived sufficient flex down into the mid section of the rod. The rod is quite light and crisp, but has life in it, and certainly is not a board. Lot's of reserve power when needed. It seems well suited to the 6WF line. In comparison, I have a 5wt. TFO TiCrX and that feels a bit stiff and boardy to me. My trout bum friend, a Winston loyalist, thinks my TiCrX is a two by four, but I do not. Just stiff. Eternity2 is not like that at all. I will report more once I get to fish, which wil be a couple weeks here in Colorado as runoff is in full force. My initial feedback -- great job Batson! I am OK with the cobalt color, though I don't think it will every be my favorite. With a lime-green fly line, I will be a colorful angler this year. I actually have one more thin coat of epoxy to put on after I sand sand down a few lumps. I may post some photos after that.

I promised my son an older 8 wt. TICRX I built but seldom used it because it cast like a cub. I should have known better. I handed it over and searched for a reel with an 8 wt. line, to test-cast, but the closest I could come was a reel loaded with a Wulff 9 wt. Triangle Taper. With a 35 foot overhang and a double haul that rod woke up and left us looking at the backing. Fly casting is a trinity with interdependent elements: rod, line, and caster. Don't make any hasty decisions before you have explored several combinations of these three elements.

Phil, don,t forget the other elements; Wind, Fire, and Earth..no wonder i can,t cast over forty feet..i thought maybe my bass bugs were too hairy..lol.

I have fished the 5 wt. TiCrX with a modern 6 wt line (which is really a 6.5 wt.line). It could easily toss a 7 wt line, I think, and I may try that. I actually like the rod overall, and partciularly in some conditions, especially bigger rivers or wind. I had it on the Big Hole last year with a 5 weight line in some major wind and it did alright. The year before I fished it on the Snake with the 6 wt line. It can blast out a hopper. It is a totally different rod than the Eternity 2. I bought the TiCrX used for a great price and in mint condition, I had some pretty weak 5 wt rods and wanted something stout. I got that. Not good for nymphing as it is so stiff. Eternity2 is in a completely different league.
