What's the typical shelf life on epoxy and thread finish? This is the ProPaste and ProKote brand. They've been used before and have been stored in the basement (climate controlled) for about 2 years. Re: Epoxy and Thread Finish Shelf Life

Not our products, however...
We always say don't buy an amount that you can't use in one year, but it will still set up and work for many years. We say store Flex Coat in a cool, dark, and dry place. The resin can crystalize like honey and the hardener can turn amber over time, this is normal. You can and should melt the crystals in the resin by warming it up with hot water or a few seconds in the microwave, not to long or you risk melting the bottles or scorching the resin. The amber color in the hardener is there to stay, but you should remember that you are looking through the thickness of the bottle. When you mix it with the clear resin and then put it on the rod it will be cut in half and then put on in a thin coat. You will only notice the slight tinge of amber on snow white blanks. Also, keep in mind that the finish still makes for a great glue if you don't want to use it for finish anymore, it just takes longer to set up than glue.
