I am looking for an old reel seat, was made by Abu. It fits over a cork handle, the reel is inserted and screwed down as per normal but the seat was able to be moved anywhere along the cork handle before tightening up. Allowed the rod to be balanced with and reel and line combo. Do you know if any are available or whether anyone makes them these days. Cheers Re: ABU reel seat

I know what you are talking about , I have one on a rod that was built for my grandfather years ago, unfortunately, I don't think they are still made, because it is a pretty neat concept. I don't care for the slip rings people are using now. you could use one of the fuji plate seats, and attatch it after you find your balance point. Re: ABU reel seat

You might also look into what the Brits refer to as "Coasters"; they're a clamping system that is used on surf rods and others as well.Conoflex, zZiplex,Purglas all use them. I'm not sure what size/s they come in. Check RonSutton at [ronsutton.sea-angler.org] he carries them. Phone is 1-877-495-5969. Warren Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
