First let me say that I like Black guides . I also like Snake brand guides . Here's the problem , the SB guides don't come in black .
The first time I ordered black nickel guides from a picture on a web site that made them look black but when I received them I was very disappointed to find that they are not in fact anything like that picture . I ended up having to use different reel seat , wraps etc to match the damn guides and I didnt get what I wanted from an aesthetic stand point , very disappointed . Now , does anyone make a comparable snake guide in black or even plate the SBGs ? As always , TIA . Re: Snake guides

Hey Ron,
American Tackle has black snake guides. And they are indeed black... Check with your favorite American Tackle dealer. Heres the link. [www.americantackle.us] Chris Feagan 800-516-1750 EX 1208 chrisfeagan@americantackle.us Re: Snake guides

REC Recoils come in both Black and "silver".
And they don't discolor like others that end up marring the wraps - in saltwater - no matter what the claims Herb Re: Snake guides

REC is the only ones that hold their colour in saltwater (from my experience). Hopkins and Halloway (Seymo) DLC will wear inside the guide so you will see the chrome plating after a while, only cosmetic though. Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 11/12/2019 02:53PM by Terje Bendiksby. Re: Snake guides

REC snake guides are bombproof: absolutely NO corrosion even from saltwater, will not take a "set" when bumped or bent, and a black guide will remain black, not blackish, gray, or silver. One caveat: I once built a 6 wt. rod with REC "lightweight" snake guides but with no Forhan Wraps. I somehow "bumped" a guide against some waterside brush and one guide foot backed out from under its wrappings, leaving one guide foot hanging loose and the guide in danger of fouling the fly line or falling off. You should eliminate this problem with Forhan Wraps or use standard weight REC guides. Re: Snake guides

Another vote here for REC guides. The black ones are reliably black and have all the other advantages of the non-corrosive titanium alloy they use.

The Snake Lite Wire - Black Nickel are "blackish". Maybe they will do the job if you like their guides that much (as I do). Re: Snake guides
