Herb-You must not be talking fly rods. But if you can cast a fly line 120 yards, I'll pay you for lessons! But we're not talking the same thing here. Fishing off the beach is a different animal.

I have never found the one size that fits all or one type of fly guide that is best for all applications. I frequently encounter manufacturers, advertisers, and rod builders who claim one type of fly guide is best for all species and all weight rods in all waters for fly fishers of all abilities?!

The Minimas I weight actually weighed more than Fuji ceramic L frame Ti guides of the same size. The Fuji ceramic tip tops weight less than snake tip tops. The guides do not add that much weight and they cast as far as the snakes but with a better feel. The Sea Guide L frames I just got appear to be very similar to Fuji's. As Phil said " I have never found the one size that fits all or one type of fly guide that is best for all applications. " That is true and can be applied to builders and anglers. It is a matter of preference but I also believe we should't get stuck on one way of building rods and not even try to enhance the performance just because "it works". Make it work better.

Just going to throw this out there, for those who are concerned about line twist.. Try using aTitanium MicroWave 18/8 stripper guide on your flyrods, and then run single foot titanium running guides.

Randy, for what reason does a micro wave eliminate line twist..i fish big deer hair bass bugs and sometimes have a line twist problem..if i use a homemade power pro tapered leader, no problem at night but during the day i don,t use it because it,s so massive, then i get twist..Thanks...
