Given the exact same size guide, which ring will have a larger inside diameter? I know SiC is much thicker, thus a smaller inside diameter. However, I think I've heard both ways regard Torzite vs. Alconite.
Thanks Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter

TORZITE is the largest ID. Below a size 6 you can actually go a full size smaller in TORZITE and maintain the same ID. Great weight savings
New Slim SiC is next, available in new Gunmetal Corrosion Control treated frames (Stainless) and Titanium. A whisker fatter than TORZITE ALCONITE and New FazLite are neck and neck for third. SiC "J" ring is forth Concept O SiN Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter

Thanks Jim,
Those new Slim SiC seem interesting. Weight wise, I'd assume they're closer to the weight of Alconite, but still slightly heavier? Do you have any % of thickness or actual ID measurements by chance? Just trying to see what the real world difference might be. Thanks Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter

I also would like to determine some real world differences between guide performance - like a double-blind comparison of two or more rods built on the same blank and tested by competent fly casters - blindfolded, of course. The real world often differs from the world of advertising and hype. Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter

Sean the Slim SiC rings didn't even make it into the Fuji 2018 catalog but here's what we have...in the smaller sizes (5.5 and below) Slim SiC will open the ID by about .2mm. From 6 to 10 about .5mm and by 1size 6 a full mm. Weight savings are around 15% over standard SiC Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter

Thanks Jim. So they are a tiny bit thinner than the Alconite, but the main benefit is just getting the SiC is a thinner/lighter package. Re: Fuji Alconite vs Torzite Inside Diameter
