It’s been covered many times about epoxy shelf life. However, I’m wondering if a bottle of ambered hardener can be hastened to be even darker. My vintage build was originally done with marine varnish. I can always buy a bottle of Rod Dancer varnish...but now I’m staring at an old bottle of ambered Pro Köte and wondering if I can just darken the hardener up in the sun...thereby giving thinned epoxy the same look as varnish.
Danke! -Raymond Re: Amber hardener...hastened to be even darker?

Raymond,
Investigate resin dyes. If you search you will find a large variety of resin dyes used to color resin for various purposes. This dye will mix well with rod finish and will do a nice job on giving your desired color. Good luck Re: Amber hardener...hastened to be even darker?

Very possibly, although beyond a certain point the darkening process will slow to a creep. Most of the darkening will take place in the first year to year and a half.
