Are there any competitions and I'm pretty sure there are where amateur/hobbiest can submit rods for judging and gage where they may be in the world of rod building. Re: rod builders judging competition

Yea posting pictures is probably a lot better than entering a contest. Especially one where the guy running the contest enters his own work then declares himself one of the winners. Re: rod builders judging competition

I believe there were two or three competitions at the ICRBE back in Feb. As far as I know none of the entrants were involved in the judging of the rods. There may have been a casting competition too. Not sure. Maybe these will take place again next year.

Why do you need a competition for? Custom is just that, custom and is made for a specific hand, eye and use ! At least in my opinion :) kingofbeasts custom rods Re: rod builders judging competition

It is simply more of an excuse for some builders to pull out all the stops and challenge themselves against other builders. It was certainly in good fun at the recent Expo. Any rod could have won. They were all worthy of 1st place.
None of the entrants in the world rod building challenge were allowed to judge any of the rods in the competition. ........ Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
