I just received my order yesterday which includes threadmaster one. I will be using this for the first time as previously I used prokote for my thread wraps. I would allow close to 24 hours before even thinking of adding another coat of prokote. Should I wait the same length of time for threadmaster as well? Re: Threadmaster one curing time

Do a test wrap on some scrap first. I have some and it doesn't want to harden for me. Wish it would because it is very easy to use. Can you post your experience with it when you try it? If it works for you can you post the temp and humidity and such? Re: Threadmaster one curing time

I just applied it to my wraps. The temp is right around 70, low humidity. Ill give it a couple hours on the rod dryer and see what I have Re: Threadmaster one curing time

I have tried on numerous occasions with disastrous result, especially on the second or third coat. Now I only use it for repairs that I need to get out in a hurry. Interesting to note that Rodancer is not on the sponsors board anymore . Tom Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 04/06/2017 10:52AM by Tom Wewerka. Re: Threadmaster one curing time

I did notice quite a few air bubbles which I didnt expect. I have popped the bulk of the bubbles in the finish at this point. I will check in another hour or so and see if its ready for another coat. It does seems substantially more heavy viscosity than the prokote I have been using. Re: Threadmaster one curing time

Ken, just read a lot of posts regarding this product and I would suggest you switch to one of the Flex Coat products. Not much love for it out there. (T-1) If you contact Flex Coat and let them know what characteristics you're looking for they'll point you in the right direction. Otherwise you'll spend a lot before you hit on something you like. I love the threadmaster lite, but the 1 never hardens and peels away from the blank for me after a day or 2. The lite version works perfect for me every time though. Re: Threadmaster one curing time

I must apologize to Threadmaster for my above post, I had no intention to drive anyone away from their 2-part finishes. I do however believe that Flex Coat offers a great deal of help to new builders. Where else can you see the owner tell you how to make tools instead of buying them from him? Besides, you gotta love a guy who has a cork stash. Re: Threadmaster one curing time

Lynn When I first started building rods like most everyone I had an issue with getting the epoxy just right every time. So I emailed Flex Coat the next thing I know Mr Roger himself called me and was so patient and helpful I could hardly believe it. I never use anything else because of him and his support and the great product they make.

The end result was not a good one with the T1 unfortunately. It was a rebuild on an old rod, so Im not heart-broken about the shotty finish. As long it holds the guides on at this point, Ill be happy. I am currently drying my son's new trout rod after the 2nd coat of CP. Once it is dry, I will be applying the prokote that I have. I will try flexcoat in the future with my next supply purchase. I have only read good things. Re: Threadmaster one curing time

The finish ended up rough and had air bubbles still in it. It doesnt look horrible and should function just fine. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
