Hi to all.
What have you found to be the most effective, easy to acquire and install braid gripping band for a reel not supplied with such? Thank you for your input. Tsunami has recently come out with a pack of bands to go around the spool arbor, similar to the bands you see on some of the Penn reels. I usually use mono backing but have also just tied the braid to the spool and than as I start wrapping the line on I place a piece of electrical tape on the spool and wrap the tape over the braid the first few turns. Never had a problem with either method.

Medical coban tape, used when you get your blood drawn. Its the same tape some tackle stores sell to wrap your fingers. Otherwise just wrap the braid around the spool 7-10 times before you tie the arbor. Each wrap increases friction and surface area of coverage, you shouldn't have a problem. Also, ensure that when you enter the spool with the line to tie the arbor, start opposite to how you want your line to pay off. That orientation will self tighten the arbor, while the other direction has the opposite effect.

Take one of the wound closure strips used for small incisions and tape over your knot. It has no residue and wont take up much room. Re: Braid Gripping Band for Reel

I also just use mono backing. Its cheap, simple, and works. It lets me reduce how much braid I have to use to fill the spool, but I'm fishing freshwater fish that don't peel line off the spool either. Re: Braid Gripping Band for Reel

A few ft. mono tied to the spool with an arbor knot, braid tied to that. Re: Braid Gripping Band for Reel
