Hi,
I needed to work on some guides on personal rod that gets roughly treated (grandkids, wading). I noticed I was out of thread wrapping finish, so I went to a local fishing shop. They had head cement lure and jig finish. They said that they used it on spring bobbers for ice fishing rods and it had held up well for them. So I took it home and tried it on the guide wraps. It looks good. I have not had a chance to fish the rod. I am wondering if any of you have used this, and if there are any opinions for using this on a rough fishing rod? Thanks Re: Head cement lure and jig finish?

In my experience, fur and feathers tend to not last very long in comparison to the heads of flies. Which in actuality does not mean much for rodbuilding useage. I would only use it for emergency repairs. Re: Head cement lure and jig finish?

is it clear ?? or milky white clear would be just like nail polish and the white would be a urethane water based sealer not exactly what you would want for long term durability
IMHO I would get the 2 part finish or perma gloss for durable finish The best day to be alive is always tomorrow !! Think out side the box when all else fails !!! Wi. Re: Head cement lure and jig finish?

For a quick, clear, and durable "re-finish" of guide wraps I would be inclined to use one part light-curing epoxy in the "thin" (runny) type. Cost is low - no waste. You can probably do 10 guide wraps with one little tube. This stuff is tough enough to glue teeth together. Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
