Pond catfish blank recommendation

Have a request to build a spinning rod for a fellow who targets catfish in his stocked pond, some growing to 10lbs. He usually casts smaller baits with a bobber as far as I have learned. I have a P842 blank at home, but wondered if there might be a better choice for "pond cats".
Thanks very much for any recommendations - appreciated! Re: Pond catfish blank recommendation

The P842 might be a little on the light size especially if there is some structure in the pond. However it would be a fun rod to use. If fishing from the shore, and long casts are needed a 8' to 9' M salmon/ steelhead rod might be more suitable and just as much fun. Otherwise almost any M to MH rod would work.

Thanks Norman, I was thinking of possibly using the popping blank d/t its slower tip section (not throwing bait off on the cast). I have some M and MH blanks that should work also, appreciated. Re: Pond catfish blank recommendation

Mike,
For the pond catfish, a Medium action rod will work just fine and be more fun to use while fishing. Re: Pond catfish blank recommendation

Thanks Roger, agreed - I was thinking about tossing a heavy bait, but a med or med/heavy should handle this duty fine. Will root around my blank pile... thanks again Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
