Hello,
I'm building my first rod (MB843) and it's time for guide placement. I understand that static testing but I'm unsure where to place the first guide. The book I recieved with my kit from Mudhole talks about basing on how the line comes off the reel. I was a little confused by this and maybe I just need to read through it again. Can anyone offer me some advice on this or is there another way? I plan on trying to finish this rod up this weekend. Thanks, Jason Re: First Guide Placement

Jason,
On about 90% of the rods that I build - whether casting or spinning in a typical length of 5-8 feet, I generally place the first guide at 20 inches and go from there for the rest of the guides. Be safe Sorry, only registered users may post in this forum.
