Permagloss over epoxy

Please refresh my memory, but I've read before that Permagloss can be applied over wrap epoxy without affecting the surface of the epoxy, right? I'm talking both new and well cured epoxy, 6 years old and cleaned with abrasive pad. Right now it is nice and smooth, but flat finish. I want to use permagloss on the blank, and hope to just run it right onto the wraps and ramps off the reel seat. thanks.

It won't eat into the epoxy but it's not necessarily a good look. Epoxy over PG is easy, but not quite the other way around.

Not sure I understand, because PG over epoxy on carbon fiber grips looks great. Can you clarify?

Generally you sand off the epoxy on the grips before you put the PG on them. The epoxy is just a wetting agent/filler. Not a topcoat.

I'll try it on a small area.

There is no way the epoxy on carbon fiber gets "sanded off," in my opinion. The grip starts as a rough epoxy coated carbon fiber cloth and ends up smooth as silk. It is smooth because the depressions are filled ("filler") with epoxy and ultimately they (the epoxy filled depressions) and the rest of the area get covered by PG. And they look smooth as silk

I tested it on a small area, looked fine, so did the whole rod, ramps, wraps, and it looks fine. It retained the gloss of the wrap epoxy fully. I doubt if anyone can tell whether the wraps have just epoxy or epoxy covered with PG.
