Where is the spine?

I know how to find the natural bend of a blank, but where is the stiffest and weakest spine? The FAQ says that the two are not necessarily 180 degrees apart. When they are not 180 degree apart, is the stiff side 90 degrees to the bend? About what percentage of the time are they not 180 degrees apart?

The "effective spine" is the axis that is least resistant to flexing. It is the weakest axis of the rod blank. There is no such things as a "stiff" or "soft" spine.

It is rare that softest and stiffest axii are 180 degrees from one another.

some blanks may have a few "spines," just make sure you put your build together according to the most dominant one
